New Evidence on Geographic Variations in Health Care

The Institute of Medicine recently completed the most comprehensive assessment to date of geographic variations in U.S. health care. This session will review the findings of the IOM study, and will present new evidence building on the IOM's efforts. Specifically, the session will address the potential role of commercial health care prices in driving variation in Medicare spending, as well as regional differences in quality of care among commercially insured individuals.
