Under the Affordable Care Act, children are permitted to stay on their parents' insurance policies through the age of 26. The papers in this session consider the impacts of this expanded access to parental health insurance on young adults’ health insurance coverage and health care utilization, including avoidable hospitalizations, as well as parents’ use of the dependent tax exemptions.
