This session considers the impact of Medicare coverage on the well-being of the elderly and the chronically ill. The first paper examines the impact of Medicare's expansion in the 1970s to end-stage renal disease patients on health outcomes for those patients. The second paper considers the impact of supplemental coverage on health outcomes. The third paper examines the impact of Medicare Part D coverage on non-medical consumption.
