On January 14, 2019, the President signed into law H.R. 4174 - Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act of 2018. This new law aims to improve decision-making and facilitate program improvement through strengthening Federal agency evaluation capacity, furthering open data efforts, and improving access to data for statistical and evidence-building purposes while protecting confidential information. This session will discuss: •challenges and opportunities in implementing the new law; •how the new law will affect access to data; •the role of health economic and policy research in this new environment; and •the effects the new law will have on how health care is delivered in the U.S.
