Dear Dajung,

After careful consideration, the ASHEcon Board of Directors has made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel the in-person 2020 ASHEcon Conference scheduled to take place on June 7-10 in St. Louis, Missouri due to the ongoing threat posed by the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. We did not make this decision lightly and had hoped to avoid this outcome. But our priority is the health and safety of our members, conference participants, staff, sponsors, exhibitors, and supporters.

We are currently planning a smaller two-day virtual conference featuring Emerging Scholar sessions, plenaries, panels, and networking sessions. I think you’ll find that this will offer you the opportunity to hear cutting edge research and stimulating discussion of key issues in health economics.

I know that everyone (participants, reviewers, organizers) worked very hard to put together an exciting program for the ASHEcon 2020 conference. I’m grateful for everyone’s efforts and wish we could offer the full program. However, the in-person conference would have had over 180 sessions, and it isn’t possible for us to offer that many sessions virtually. I know that this is disappointing to you as well and apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.

I realize that you may still want the opportunity to share your research and hear more about the work that your colleagues are doing. If the participants in your session would like to hold your session virtually, you can do so, record the session, and post the link to the recording in our Speaker’s Center. It will then be posted to our online program. You may also upload your PowerPoint and Poster presentations. There will be a comments section that will allow others to review your abstract, presentation, or poster and leave feedback.

ASHEcon will be sharing more information about this the once all the details are finalized.

If you have any questions regarding the cancellation of the conference, please visit our FAQ page. For any additional questions please contact info@ashecon.org.

Many thanks for your patience and understanding. Please stay safe and healthy. I look forward to seeing you at our virtual conference!

Sincerely,

Martin Gaynor

President-Elect ASHEcon
